# Buying a power station for Cuba: what to check in the US

Buying a power station for family in Cuba means answering two questions: whether it covers their appliances during an outage, and whether the order can reach its recipient under the applicable conditions.

A US retail listing does not confirm export eligibility, transport or warranty coverage in Cuba. Identify the exact model and request that review before paying.

## Define what needs to stay on

Ask your family member for a short list: fan, lights, phones, router and, if needed, refrigerator. Gather the model, consumption and required hours for each appliance.

Also establish the available recharge window between outages. A battery stores energy and needs a source to replenish it. Grid charging and solar charging have different requirements and timing.

For a refrigerator, check energy over operating cycles and compressor starting demand. A station's output rating does not guarantee fixed hours with every refrigerator.

## Request a complete quotation

A useful comparison identifies:

- Exact model, electrical version and included accessories.
- Equipment price and a separate transport cost.
- Destination and responsible party for every transport leg.
- Import conditions and charges payable by the recipient.
- Who handles a fault and where the equipment would need to be returned.

An expansion battery may not work independently: confirm which station supports it. Do not assume that every package called a solar generator includes panels.

## A large power station is not ordinary luggage

The FAA states that lithium battery generators exceeding 160 Wh are forbidden on passenger aircraft. Do not plan to carry a larger station as travel baggage.

Cargo transport requires operator acceptance and review of the equipment and its documentation. Get confirmation for the exact SKU before purchasing; a general price per pound is insufficient.

## Confirm the transaction before assuming authorization

BIS sets specific requirements for exports and reexports to Cuba. A license or exception applies only when the transaction satisfies its conditions. Delivery to a US forwarder does not replace that review.

A BetterPowered inquiry can review the equipment and US delivery conditions. A transaction intended for Cuba must be confirmed before accepting an order for that use. Direct delivery to Cuba and automatic international warranty coverage are not offered.

## Send the details needed for a useful review

Provide the appliance list, required backup hours, intended model, US delivery address and final destination. If you already have a carrier, include its confirmation that it accepts the equipment.

The response should support a decision based on complete costs and responsibilities. Searching for a familiar brand such as EcoFlow, BLUETTI or Anker SOLIX does not replace model verification or establish that BetterPowered carries that brand.

## You can also pay with USDT

Choose your model and quantity in the [portable power Store](/shop/collections/portable-power/). Request an invoice by email from the product page or your cart. We confirm availability, delivery and the final total before sending it.

## Estimate backup for your own equipment

Once you have your appliance list and intended hours of use, [use our portable power calculator](/shop/assessment/portable-power/) to prepare a selection. It is a planning guide; confirm consumption, startup demand, compatibility and manufacturer conditions before deciding.
