This policy explains how the BetterPowered brand collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you visit betterpowered.com, begin a property assessment, request contractor matching, or otherwise use a BetterPowered service.

Information we collect

We may collect information you provide, information produced while using the service, and limited technical information collected automatically.

  • Contact and account information: name, email address, telephone number, service address, and account identifiers.
  • Property and project information: property type, occupancy, goals, equipment details, utility use, bills, photos, documents, reported conditions, desired projects, and timing.
  • Assessment and service records: recommendations, evidence status, contractor-match requests, proposals or project updates you choose to provide, and communications.
  • Technical and analytics information: browser, device, IP-derived location, referring page, pages viewed, link interactions, and similar usage data. The public site currently uses Google Analytics 4.

How we use information

We use information to operate and improve the site and services; create and update property plans; respond to requests; evaluate service and geographic coverage; match selected projects with participating contractors; support incentive paperwork; maintain security; measure site performance; and comply with legal obligations.

When information is shared

We may share information with:

  • Service providers that host, secure, analyze, or support BetterPowered systems.
  • Participating contractors when you request a match or authorize a project handoff. We aim to limit the handoff to information reasonably needed to evaluate or perform that project.
  • Professional advisers, program administrators, utilities, or other parties when you ask us to support an application or service.
  • Government authorities or other parties when required by law, needed to protect rights or safety, or connected with a business transaction.

BetterPowered does not sell personal information for money. Contractor compensation is addressed separately in the contractor relationship disclosure.

Cookies and analytics

The site may use cookies or similar technologies for essential operation, preferences, security, and analytics. Browser controls can limit cookies, although parts of the service may not work as intended. Analytics providers may process data under their own terms and controls.

Retention and security

We retain information for as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described above, including service delivery, project history, dispute resolution, security, and legal obligations. Retention periods can vary by data type and service stage. We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards, but no system or transmission method is completely secure.

Your choices

You may choose not to provide optional information, use your own contractor, or stop before requesting a contractor match. You may also ask to access, correct, or delete personal information, subject to identity verification and legal or operational retention requirements. Email [email protected] and identify the property or account email associated with the request.

Third-party services

Contractor sites, financing providers, incentive portals, utilities, tax authorities, and other linked services have their own privacy practices. This policy does not control how those independent parties handle information after you choose to provide it to them.

Children

BetterPowered services are intended for property owners, tenants with appropriate authority, and business representatives. They are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the service, vendors, or legal requirements change. The review date at the top identifies the current published version. Material changes may also be communicated through the site or service when appropriate.
